    Farbi.
    >The Card worked three days ago... Did a scan for channels overnight and next >day card >wouldn't respond. Rebooted thinking it might help (old windows >habits die hard) and got this error.

At one point, long ago, my card stopped functioning also. For weeks I tried to get it running. No success. Then I decided to reinstall Ubuntu. Still no success. Then I tried this... I removed the card, reinstalled Ubuntu, reinstalled the card, success. Its another old Windows trick.

Try this. Shut down computer, remove your card, restart computer with card removed, shutdown computer, reinstall card and then restart computer with card installed.

I'm probably the last person to take advice from on this subject but...

By the way, I moved to 8.10 and the card is recognized immediately. I use it with Mplayer. Haven't gotten Myth working yet. Its as complicated as the 1600 card.

    Let us know what happens.

Re: [SOLVED] Has anyone got Hauppauge HVR 1600 working?

Thanks for the reply, and the suggestion. Just recently came back from a horrific hardware failure (just about everything died, MB, HD, Proc (large black burn marks) video card, the 1600 survived though, go figure...) anyhow now that I'm running 8.10 it is good for me as well.

    Again,
Thanks for the reply, and the suggestion I'll give that a go if it stops working again

    Hi to all,

    this card really frustrates me.
Perhaps some of you guys can help me.

For me this looks like w_scan finds some channels and it confirms that /dev/dvb/adapter0/frontend0 is my ATSC device.

Changing the channels.conf a little bit. The starting czap it tells me that my card is not QAM-device. Can someone help me on this ??

    Code:
    root@family-desktop:/home/neumann# czap -a 0 -f 0 -d 0 -c /var/lib/vdr/channels.conf.czap4 [0139]
    using '/dev/dvb/adapter0/frontend0' and '/dev/dvb/adapter0/demux0'

ERROR: frontend device is not a QAM (DVB-C) device
I tried my luck with other programs like mplayer but there I have only
some funny snow-storm-pictures (this seems to be the analog site).
And with vlc I tried a lot of things too. No Success.

I really don't know whats wrong. But why seems the scan to work ??

    I really need some help.

Re: [SOLVED] Has anyone got Hauppauge HVR 1600 working?

FYI I found that the module: lirc_pvr150 was interfering with the cx18 module trying to unload. It appears to be the blaster module. When I commented it out in /etc/lircd/hardware.conf it loaded without issue. Granted I lost control of my blaster... but now I have HD working, so it's better for me in the short run since the only reason I was using the blaster was for controlling my HD box until I got HD working within the tuner.

Re: Has anyone got Hauppauge HVR 1600 working?

Willoconley or anyone, I could use some help. Tried installing the drivers and firmware as instructed at http://www.mythtv.org/wiki/Hauppauge_HVR-1600

but after I shutdown as instructed, we have a severly screwed up GUI. It's so distorted nothing can be done. I was able to boot with the Terminal and that's where I am now.

Couldn't even get this far. I had downloaded and extracted the drivers to the tmp folder. (tmp/HVR1600 to be exact, and then renamed the next folder as V4l-dvb) It couldn't be found. I did a dir of tmp and there were only a few folders in there, none of which were HVR1600

Can someone give me a command to download them again to a better place? And to extract them. I'm not the best person for the command line.

    Is that it below?

now after you copy those firmware files you posted about earlier to /lib/firmware/*currentKernel*

I skipped all that for now as I can't seem to undo what I'd already done before I can start fresh.

But on a lark, I did the next bit:

...and I did get pretty much what willoconley put there. It seems the card did make it.

I don't have an nVidia card. We have an ATI Radeon 4550. The computer is a Dell Inspiron 530N, dual-core with 4GB of memory and a 320GB hard drive.

I'd very much appreciate any help on this.

Re: [SOLVED] Has anyone got Hauppauge HVR 1600 working?

Well some progress or at least maybe a clue.

We got an old monitor out of the closet and hooked it up. We have GUI there. It's low res (800x600 or 640x480) but it's there.

Could the HVR-1600 drivers or firmware have messed with out ATI Radeon 4550's drivers/firmware? We normally (and would prefer to) use our LCD TV as the monitor as this computer is to be our TV.

On the not so progress side, we can't even boot to the terminal with the TV now. All we have is a black screen. Did see the Dell logo and the GRUB, saw Starting Up... and then black.

Update: for some reason, we have a GUI again with the TV as monitor. We're stuck in low resolution with not a lot of colors. I'm really suspecting the HVR driver or firmware install messed with the Radeon. Should I try to reinstall the latter?
