    text corruption in Xgl

    Hi,

I did a fresh install of Hardy on my Macbook Pro (4th gen). Xgl and compiz running mostly fine. One problem though: the text on many windows is corrupted because old text is not being removed before new text is written--the characters start to overlay each other. This is a problem on Konsole and KTorrent in particular. Resizing windows fixes the problem temporarily.

I removed Xgl and now all is well. Has anybody had this problem and know how to fix it? I'd like Xgl back!

    Thanks!

you shouldn't need XGL to get compiz working anymore. The functionality that it provided is now in the ATI and nVidia drivers.

Ha! So it does. Didn't know that. Thanks for letting me know. I guess that closes the thread since Xgl doesn't play nice with certain things anyway.

Yea, I'd say that having both XGL and something else providing the same functions was the issue. Glad it is working now.
