50%+ battery drain while in suspend

Brand new Z13 Gen 2 ThinkPad with fresh install of Ubuntu 24.

Whether I suspend by closing the lid, selecting the suspend option from the top-right menu, or running "systemctl suspend" - it always results in rapid battery drain while the computer is "suspended".

The red Thinkpad light slowly pulsates, indicating the laptop is not awake, but the computer is still warm to the touch and I lose about 10% battery life per hour.

Is there a way to find out why my laptop is not properly suspending?

Re: 50%+ battery drain while in suspend

Anyone? This seems like a software problem, because I replaced the Z13 with a P14s Gen 4 and have the same exact problem:

Brand new ThinkPad P14s Gen 4, fresh install of Ubuntu 24 LTS. Laptop appears to suspend (close the lid, fans stop, red thinkpad light pulses), but continues using battery and producing heat.

It has used 50% battery while suspended for 6 hours today - unacceptable.

There's nothing obvious in system logs (no logs appear between suspend and wake), and Lenovo has seriously nerfed their BIOS to the point there's no longer any sleep-related settings to modify.

Anyone facing similar problems with AMD Thinkpads?

    Thanks
