    I updated to KDE Karmic months ago during alpha (4?). The only trouble I've had is digikam crashing sometimes and needing to install pavucontrol to handle pulseaudio.

    When it finally does boot your wireless network isn't working? Check if your laptop has a network kill switch and it is turned off. If it is all ready off then there may be a driver problem.

    You may need to reboot to make the system recreate the device file.

    Then check to see if it is there.
